May is Mental Health Awareness Month. Dr. Laurel Leslie, Vice President of Research with the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP), gave a congressional briefing in Washington DC on mental healthcare. Sisters by Heart is working with the ABP and other other organizations to improve mental healthcare for all patients and families, particularly those at risk, raising chronically ill children. Dr. Leslie closed her briefing with a quote from a parent of a child with HLHS, calling for significant change in our mental healthcare system.
